I’ve been working on a few projects, dipping into the development way of things… and since moving to my wonderful little town of Georgina, I’ve thought about developing a little portal for it. Currently, there isn’t much of one, except the local newspaper yorkregion.com. If you ask me, this site doesn’t have much in the way of Georgina compared to some of the other communities it promotes.

I think having a central point to check out the upcoming events and provide an interactive spot to socialize is a big one… and Georgina definitely has a lot to offer locals as well as those from the city. There just isn’t much in the way of anything like that right now.

I went to register my domain this morning and realized someone bought it up only this week. I started talking about it a couple weeks ago… what a coincidence!

There is a small’ish website I like to visit on occassion to see what’s new in the world of web design/development. It’s called A List Apart. Last year, they put together a rather large survey to gather data about professionals that work in the web world. The results are pretty interesting, as it gives you an insight to 30+ thousand of web professionals and provides insight to individual job titles.

Anyways, if you’re a web professional, check it out!

There are a couple things that are a pain, like having to goto another screen to input any text/passwords, but in general I find the usability pretty decent. At very least, it’s something to check out for yourself!

I would like to officially welcome to fido.ca to the internet.

New Fido.ca

Old Fido.ca

I must admit, it’s not a bad way to begin promoting the iPhone revolution for Fido. In any case, the new fido.ca is a pretty big upgrade over the previous site. Customers are now able to actually purchase and activate their phone, within one shopping cart experience! I think the biggest upgrade and it’s best feature is the actual user interface. I think it’s a bold move to have the black background (to which I’m not a huge fan of), but they pulled it out. It should sit well with the generation-y crowd that fido caters their business for.

Personally, I spent about a month doing some systems & prototyping analysis and on this little guy, but a big kudos to my co-worker and cube-y Kim for a job well done in getting it live!
